Honest ingredients
Real flour, real fruit, real cocoa. If we wouldn't eat it ourselves, it doesn't go in the mixer.
About FUNK · Since 2021
Plantbased pastries, specialty coffee, natural wines & sourdough bread. Four things that describe FUNK — a warm bakery where everything is baked by hand, with honest ingredients and absolutely zero compromises.
Bakkerij FUNK · AmsterdamOur story
It started in 2021 with a single sourdough and a stubborn belief that plantbased baking could be every bit as bold as the classic stuff. No shortcuts, no fillers — just flour, water, time and a whole lot of attitude.
That one loaf turned into a counter, the counter turned into a bakery, and the bakery turned into the place where the neighbourhood queues for croissants, banana bread and white chocolate cookies. Today the ovens never really cool down, and the menu still changes with the seasons the way it always has.
Why "FUNK"?
The name FUNK comes from Funky, the beloved dog of Lisa — one of the co-owners. Funky was a black labrador who loved to swim in the lake next to her house on the left side of Antwerp. She liked a good walk even when her legs didn't quite feel the same way at the end, and she was always ready for a snack. In short: Funky loved and enjoyed life.
Funky passed away at fourteen, but that joyful, mischievous spirit never left. It's the spirit we bake into every loaf, pastry and cup of matcha — food that connects people and makes them feel good.
— Lisa & the FUNK teamWhat we stand for
Real flour, real fruit, real cocoa. If we wouldn't eat it ourselves, it doesn't go in the mixer.
Plantbased should never mean boring. We bake loud, layered and full of character — every single day.
Artisanal, by hand, no shortcuts. Quality and sustainability aren't a marketing line — they're the recipe.
From croissants to banana bread to white chocolate cookies: everything that leaves our ovens is plantbased.

Press & proof
Bakkerij FUNK was chosen as the local partner for the UNIQLO store (re)opening on the Meir, Antwerp's main shopping street. We created three exclusive Utme! designs for t-shirts and tote bags, and served the press and opening breakfast: black sesame croissants and matcha cinnamon rolls — a golden crossover between the Scandinavian and Japanese bakery scenes.
Collection available at UNIQLO Antwerp.
"Bakkerij FUNK brings the warmth — and the mischief — to every table it touches."
